Greetings from Osaka! ;)

Walkergal is right now at the heart of Osaka City. The last few days at Tokyo and Kyoto has been pretty fruitful for me. Hahaha.. Bought loads of stuff. Especially when I’m out this time round with someone who knows how to SHOP! Hur…

Tokyo was strucked with earthquake on the morning of 8 May when I was gonna fly there on that night. Nonetheless, I believe that God has been protecting the 3 of us well. :) Reached Tokyo on 9 May morning. The weather was fine despite the COLD temperature. Armed with a checked long sleeved cotton shirt (mummy bought) and a nice blue scarf (a gift)… my most presentable outfit already to start out my tokyo showdown, it was really a battle against the cold. OH. The female attendent who checked my passport upon my arrival was already very kawaii and pretty. Hur.. The females here really dress up and seriously.. some of them are clearly beautiful. Hmm.. the guys here… most of them very stylish.. some of them.. very pretty like girls.. HMM.

Went to Hakone on 10 May but the weather took an unexpected turn and it was freezing cold cold. Supposed to see Mount Fuji but ended up seeing condensed water droplets. :( Nonetheless! It was an experience that I will always remember. The walk from the rail station to our hostel took us 10 mins to walk and plus the very ‘kind’ temperature, it basically reminded me VERY MUCH of my Beijing Days. Haha.. COLDCOLD.

Early on 11 May we set off to Kyoto. Ahh! My first experience taking the Shinkansen. Wonderful. Its spacious for our huge backpacks, its clean, its fast, the scenaries out were just so awesome! I sure give it 2 thumbs up (well, I only have 2 hands). Looking out at the window.. flying pass the parts of Japan.. unknowingly.. fond memories just flood into my heart. Well.. good times always seemed to pass us fast isn’t it? :) I’m really so glad that I know you. Every now and then, I remind myself to be less self righteous and.. it is really alright to be wrong. Really. Else I wouldn’t be human. I would be God already. Haha!

We found our hostel at Kyoto without much difficulty. OH. Guess what, during my trip in Kyoto, I met geisha!! Well… the one I saw was really beautiful. Seriously, I would say their profession is really an art and not just anyone can qualify for it. We went to see the Gion Corner and it was really a nice experience for all of us. Truly an eye-opener for me. OH. And not to forget. Another unexpected thing. I met AJ at my Kyoto hostel! To think we just parted our ways from the mini karaoke gathering last tuesday and hey hey.. we meet again right in Kyoto! Coincidence? Well… here’s part two of my unexpected thing… I met my LONG LOST childhood neighbor.. I used to play lego and for her was barbie! right at the Kyoto hostel too! Seriously.. this really zapped me. I was just ‘reunited’ with her on facebook last year and we are ALL busy.. and we can actually not able to meet in Singapore but in Kyoto.. HMMM….. Haha.. WELL.. well.

Set off for Osaka on 13 May. I tell you… the food here in Japan… really OIISHI. I can just eat Japanese food ALL DAY LONG… DAILY. Without any grumbles. Seriously.. I love the Kitsune Udon. The soup is nice, and its OIL-FREE. Muahahaha!!! Met up with Yuka and we had our first ever so sumptuous dinner right at Osaka. It was very kind of Mr Yoji Morimoto to treat all of us… :D

Alrights, here’s a list of the food I have tried:

  • Ramen
  • Cold and Hot Soba
  • Udon
  • Typical Bento set!
  • Sea Urchin
  • Sushi
  • Mochi (I love GREEN TEA MOCHI)
  • Okonomiyaki (Pork, Seafood)
  • Cup noodles

Hurhur.. actually I tried more others BUT my memory couldn’t register those Japanese names.. hahaha.. yeah. Limited memory.. for those who know me!

Went to see the Osaka Castle.. It was magnificent on the outside.. but inside was all commercialised.. was quite disappointed actually.. thought I could see the real castle.. Then went to see the famous Osaka Aquarium! Its really cool. I can just stay there the whole day gazing at the shark and other wonderful underwater creatures… …

Then we went to this shopping street. It was 2.4km long. I bought a nice top there for 500 yen. It was shockingly cheap. Met a Singaporean lady there and she told us that this street is the cheapest apparel street in whole of Japan.. She stayed in Japan for 30 years already…. its really wow.

After all the walking and looking, we decided to try out the okonomiyaki, the speciality of Osaka (our first time). We ordered this seafood okonomiyaki with soba that cost 1180 yen. A really cute looking waiter came to take our orders. After much I-dunno-how-to-say and You-dunno-what-I-say, we finally made our orders. *wipe sweat* The waiter cooked the seafood okonomiyaki RIGHT in front of us.. it was WOW. Then… well, I think the okonomiyaki is supposed to be all in one piece after you do the flipping of it. But it didn’t turn out that way and cute waiter was really very disappointed and apologetic over that. We told him nevermind.. but he still looked very sad. Then guess what, he said that broken one is on him. And he offered to let us choose another okonomiyaki! OMG. It was like well… actually no need la.. but not drag it, we just said OK. So we asked him to choose for us, he choose one with pork. It was REALLY nice and tasted so different from the seafood one.. this time round, he didn’t prepare it in front of us, to save time he did it while we were eating the seafood one. :) At the end of it, it was like a Buy-One-Get-One-Free thing for us.. Really… all we can say is.. Thank God!!

Alrights. Thats all folks… Till then! This is WalkerGal signing off from Osaka. ;)
